Fatally hit by a car, a wandering Navajo man, John Sky, is found with multiple stab wounds, eyes that are cut out, and a sewn up mouth. At the hospital, when his mouth is opened, it is discovered that his eyes where placed inside of his mouth and his tongue was sewn off.
(Weaving through flashbacks throughout the film, the back story of Joseph is told): Joseph, a haunted, drunk cop with diabetes is the man they call for these types of brutal crime. Intent on punishing himself over the death of his son, he takes these cases as a reminder of how fucked up his life is. Under the lead of Ninibah, a female Navajo tribal officer, the two embark on a journey of finding the one responsible for this brutal crime.
